Health Checks

Who is eligible for a free NHS Health Check ?

If you are in the 40-74 age group and you are not being treated from kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke or dementia you can expect to receive a letter from the GP or local authority inviting you for a free NHS Health Check every five years.

As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps to find ways to lower these risks.

There are two steps to the NHS Health Check:

1- A blood test to check your Cholesterol, Blood sugar, Kidney functions, Liver functions and a number of other parameters depending on age, sex and lifestyle. A form for the blood will be sent to you with the Health Check invitation.  The blood test can be booked at our Medical Centre by phoning 020 8332 7515 or be done at the walk-in Phlebotomy unit at Queen Mary's Hospital (Roehampton) or Kingston Hospital.

2- Book a consultation with one of our Clinical team one week after your blood test by phoning 020 8332 7515. During the consultation we will measure your Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Waist Circumference and discuss your level of Exercise, Smoking and Alcohol intake. We will discuss any possible risks to your health and ways to  maintain or improve your health and reduce any risks.
